A Decade of Oils Retrospective

Brooke Walker-Knoblich was first introduced to oil paint exactly 10 years ago in a Parisian studio where she learned to cure linseed oil, grind pigments, and mix her own paints. As she studied how the Renaissance Masters built luminescent color through thin layers, Brooke also began experimenting on her own by painting portraits with think, gestural strokes. Working almost exclusively with oils for a decade has allowed Brooke Walker-Knoblich to continue to explore the many divergent techniques of oil paint.

Capital Artworks Oils Retrospective

From brilliantly colored impastos to subtle, tonal glazes, this collection of 20+ portrait paintings grapple with the divide between polished realism and expressive brushwork. A Decade of Oils is Brooke Walker-Knoblich’s first retrospective and presents her artistic arc in all its diversity with never-before-exhibited paintings from Paris to works hot off the easel this very week!

Please join us for the Artist’s Reception during the 2nd Saturday Artwalk, Saturday May 10th, 6-9pm. Gallery open afterwards by appointment only.
