Axis Gallery is pleased to have Gregory Volk as juror for the 11th National Juried Exhibition. The exhibit will showcase 45 works selected from over 1000 images submitted.

Gregory Volk is a New York-based art writer, independent curator, and frequent lecturer. He writes regularly for Art in America, where he is a contributing editor, and his articles and reviews have also appeared in many other publications, including Parkett and Sculpture. Among his recent contributions to exhibition catalogues are essay on Francis Alÿs, Fred Tomaselli, and Ayse Erkmen. Gregory Volk has curated numerous exhibitions in the United States and abroad, including Elemental (2013) at Havremagasinet in Boden, Sweden, which featured select Icelandic artists and prominent international artists who are deeply engaged with Iceland and The Transportation Business (2015) at Jane Lombard Gallery in New York, an exhibition of US and international artists whose works involve multiple kinds of transportation. His exhibition Michelle Stuart, Theatre of Memory: Photographic Works, focusing on the innovative, photo-based works of an artist who was one of the few female pioneers of Land Art in the 1960s and 1970s, will be on view at the Bronx Museum in New York between February and June, 2016. Gregory Volk received his BA from Colgate University and his MA from Columbia University. He is also associate professor in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University.
