Clay & Glazes

This series of works by the artist consists of substantial, approximately circular, 2 ft plus in diameter works in clay. Heavily textured with rich glaze combinations poured over them, these works may seem to suggest landscapes, seascapes, deep space or other inferences to the viewer. In fact, to the artist, these works are non-objective explorations of color, form and surface.

Ray Gonzales is an established Sacramento area artist and has been active in the Arts community for many years. As an artist he has several works in the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission’s Art In Public Places series. Ray has been an educator in area schools, including as an Adjunct for Sierra College and an advocate on community arts level conceived programs. He has also chaired the ‘Feats of Clay International Clay Annual’ event that was held at the Gladding McBean Terra Cotta Factory in Lincoln, CA.
