Each painting functions like a portrait of a single bloom set against a solid color background, representing the mood at the time of painting: uneasy red, brooding black, tranquil white. The blooms are something different, moments of thought frozen in time. Explosions, each flower has a personality, one is lilting, others vibrant, another is haughty or enigmatic. Robertson and Maurice Warniers had their first opportunity to capture photographs together at a workshop near Mendocino, California, organized by Greg Gorman, a highly-respected portrait photographer. Four months later, David and Mattia Zaldini met at a photography workshop in Venice, Italy, photographing Carnevale. What was immediately evident was that these four photographers had diverse but coherent approaches to portraiture.

Celebration and Activism This exhibit shows that anything is possible if you have a dream, work hard and pursue it. It talks about building relationships. And being proud of where one comes from. And bringing love and compassion to all one does. The exhibition includes work from artists Benny Barrios and Jerald Silva. Barrios showed young artists not just how to paint, but showed them the life of an artist and what it takes to be an artist, and that artists can be among an select group. He drew inspiration from braceros, up from Mexico to work with their hands. [...]
