Rivera's paintings combine the palette and iconography of the indigenous cultural heritage of his native Mexico with classic techniques of Post War American Abstraction. In his paintings Rivera constructs layers of intense translucent color fields upon which he lays simple hieroglyphic markings of rich impasto which seem at once archaic and contemporary. Tim Collom Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by Gong Yuebin and Meech Miyagi. Combining Tai Chi meditation and traditional Chinese ink painting in this new series of work, Chinese native and Sacramento local Gong Yuebin has been able to find balance and harmony. Sacramento artist Meech Miyagi's current body of sculpture uses copper wire and explores neurobiology and hopes his work will precipitate question and further dialogue. "Art Where Wild Things Are", is the 7th open juried art show at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center benefiting the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. May 3-20, 2016.
